The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced on March 30 that it has instructed the Medicare administrative contractors (MACs) to hold all claims with dates of service on or after April 1. The hold is in anticipation of final congressional action, expected by mid-April, that will extend the suspension of the 2% Medicare sequester until the end of 2021. Once the sequester extension is passed and signed into law, the MACs will process any affected claims.
