    This session presents lessons learned from the Golden Hills Post Acute Care evacuation of 88 SNF residents and 22 sub-acute patients due to severe storm damage to their building. The session reviews how the facility coordinated with local SNFs, prioritized load leveling, and supported facilities receiving patients with Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms (MDRO’s). Learn how Sharp HealthCare’s Coronado campus, having practiced full facility evacuations, effectively received evacuees, demonstrating exceptional compassion and resourcefulness.

    How should hospitals decide what to include in their drills and exercises?

    The hospital’s Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) assists exercise planners in identifying threats facing the facility. The facility’s HVA provides a list of top scenarios to base future drills and exercises on. Additionally, past after action reports and improvement plans provide previously identified areas for improvement that can be tested.

    Learn how Huntington Hospital, along with law enforcement and fire department partners, quickly and effectively planned not one, but four active shooter training exercises within our facility in just 4 months. Our education department filmed the sessions and interviewed staff to create a training video for those unable to attend, which will be shown during the presentation. We will share lessons learned and highlight how hospital leadership and our planning team worked together to ensure this training was successful for our employees while minimizing impact on hospital operations.
