CMS Issues FFY 2021 Skilled-Nursing Facility PPS Proposed Rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2021 proposed rule for the skilled-nursing facility (SNF) prospective payment system, which would update the Medicare payment rate and quality reporting programs. The provisions in the proposed rule, if finalized, would be effective Oct. 1, 2021.

CHA Issues Summary of IPPS Proposed Rule

CHA has issued a summary of the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2020 inpatient prospective payment system proposed rule (IPPS) and will host a member forum June 11 at 10 a.m. (PT). During the call, CHA will provide a brief overview of key provisions in the proposed rule and solicit member feedback to inform our comments — specifically on the proposed changes to the area wage index and Medicare disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments.

CMS Grants Exceptions to Certain Quality Reporting Requirements for Counties Affected by California Wildfires

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has granted exceptions under certain Medicare quality reporting, value-based purchasing and payment programs to providers located in Butte, Los Angeles and Ventura counties, which have all been designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency as major disaster areas (DR-4407) due to the impact of the California wildfires.
