CHA has issued a members-only summary, prepared by Health Policy Alternatives, Inc., of the proposed rule announced by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that would make changes to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rule.

The summary details the proposed changes that aim to increase patients’ access to their health information, improve care coordination, and reduce the regulatory burden for providers and health plans.

CHA is reviewing the proposed rule. Comments are due to HHS by 2 p.m. (PT) on May 6.
