Discount Deadline Near for CHA/AHA Joint Advocacy Program

The discount deadline for the annual federal policy event has been extended. CHA encourages hospital leaders to register before the March 1 early bird deadline to receive substantial savings.

This year, CHA will combine its federal advocacy event for members — formerly known as the California Congressional Action Program — with the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Annual Membership Meeting, April 7-10 in Washington, DC. The combined programs maximize hospital leaders’ time and investment for just one fee.

Proposed Rules Issued on Interoperability and Information Blocking

The Department of Health and Human Services has issued two proposed rules — one from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the other from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) —  intended to improve the interoperability of health information.

Cal Knight Leads 2019 CHA Board of Trustees

Calvin “Cal” Knight, president & CEO of John Muir Health in the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, will serve as the chair of the California Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees in 2019. In his role as chair, Knight will work with the association’s leadership to advance policies and legislation that help ensure all Californians have access to high-quality, affordable medical care.

DHCS Posts February Stakeholder Update

The Department of Health Care Services has released its monthly Stakeholder Communication Update with information on key programs and services, including  the Assisted Living Waiver renewal, Diabetes Prevention Program implementation, Pediatric Palliative Care Waiver, and Medi-Cal telehealth policy.

CAHHS Board Member Honored With James Irvine Leadership Award

Earlier this week, Elaine Batchlor, MD, MPH — CEO of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital in Los Angeles and a member of the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems Board of Trustees — was named as a recipient of the James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award. The award recognizes her commitment to serving the South Los Angeles area, a long-underserved community with a severe shortage of health care providers.
