In the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2023 inpatient prospective payment system proposed rule, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed to increase the Medicare inpatient market basket update by only 2.7%, despite the unprecedented inflationary environment and ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency.
A bipartisan letter is being circulated by Reps. Brad Schneider (D-IL) and Carol Miller (R-WV) to CMS Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, urging CMS to ensure that next year’s Medicare payments to hospitals adequately reflect the true cost of providing quality care.
CHA is asking hospital leaders to call or email your U.S. representative today and ask them to sign the letter to CMS. The deadline for signatures is 2 p.m. (PT) on July 25. Find your representative’s contact information in this online directory.
