Overview

The Department of Health Care Services will allow public and private hospitals caring for Medi-Cal Fee-for-Service beneficiaries to request COVID-19-related Acute Administrative Day (AAD) reimbursement. This allowance will be retroactive to March 18, 2020, and will extend through the duration of the declared public health emergency.

Overview

In early April, the Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) developed the COVID-19 Uninsured Program to provide claims reimbursement for testing and treatment of individuals with COVID-19.

The program is intended to provide coverage for patients with a COVID-19 diagnosis who do not qualify for Medi-Cal, Medicare or other health care insurers.

In March, The Joint Commission (TJC) suspended all surveys due to COVID-19. That has changed as the COVID-19 curve flattens and state and counties begin to reopen. As of June 1, TJC has resumed reaccreditation surveys nationally, including hospitals in some California counties.
