These business continuity plan (BCP) templates and instruction manuals are provided by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency to assist health care facilities develop their business continuity plans and meet the Hospital Preparedness Program’s Health Care Preparedness Capability.
In 2014, the California Hospital Association surveyed hospitals about implementation of emergency codes, finding sustained progress in hospital emergency code implementation among California health care facilities.
Hospitals are required to have an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) detailing plans for responding and recovering from hazards. The plan must include 6 critical elements within The Joint Commission’s Emergency Management Standards:
There is no standard format for an emergency management program (emergency operations plans are just one component of an overall program). This tool provides guidance for hospitals when developing an emergency management program, including activities related to mitigation, response, and recovery. Additionally, hear from the Emergency Medical Services Administrators’ and Emergency Medical Services Directors’ Associations of California and the California Ambulance Association as they highlight their respective organizations’ efforts and 2024 priorities.
