Presented by Angela Devlen at Wakefield Brunswick, this workshop aims to educate hospitals on establishing and maintaining a continuity program that will allow the continuation of essential clinical, research, business and administrative operations in the event of natural, technological, man-made or public health emergencies.
These business continuity plan (BCP) templates and instruction manuals are provided by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency to assist health care facilities develop their business continuity plans and meet the Hospital Preparedness Program’s Health Care Preparedness Capability.
In 2014, the California Hospital Association surveyed hospitals about implementation of emergency codes, finding sustained progress in hospital emergency code implementation among California health care facilities.
This tool is designed to assist hospitals in the development of an Incident Action Plan (IAP) for each operational period. The IAP uses a combination of Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) Forms; it is minimally comprised of HICS 201 Incident Briefing, HICS 202 Incident Objectives, HICS 203 Organization Assignment List, HICS 204 Branch Assignment List, and HICS 215A Incident Action Safety Analysis.
Hospitals are required to have an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) detailing plans for responding and recovering from hazards. The plan must include 6 critical elements within The Joint Commission’s Emergency Management Standards:

CHA is bringing together EMS partners from multiple emergency services organizations to provide an overview of the future landscape of emergency medical services (EMS) in California. Liz Basnett, Director of the California Emergency Medical Services Authority, will provide a high-level overview of the California EMS System Strategic Plan and how it will serve as a guide for enhancing and improving emergency medical services. Additionally, hear from the Emergency Medical Services Administrators’ and Emergency Medical Services Directors’ Associations of California and the California Ambulance Association as they highlight their respective organizations’ efforts and 2024 priorities.
