2022 IPPS Final Rule: Funding Opportunities to Expand Resident Training Programs

Program originally recorded February 2, 2022

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a supplemental IPPS final rule in December. Among other things, the rule implements legislative changes to Medicare payments to teaching hospitals contained in the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA).

On February 2, at 9 a.m., CHA’s Vice President, Federal Policy, Chad Mulvany, and Toyon Associates, Inc., Vice President, Tom Hubner will discuss this rule and what it means for expanding resident training programs. They will review issues related to Medicare Indirect Medical Education and Direct Graduate Medical Education payments, and how CMS is finalizing the following policies:

  • Criteria to distribute additional residency slots included in the CAA
  • Increase in resident cap for Rural Training Track (RTT) hospitals
  • Allow a cap increase for hospitals that establish a new residency program after previously hosting residents for short durations

This webinar is recommended for Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Government Relations, Compliance and Finance staff.
