Because many compliance, legal, and operational issues arise in a volunteer workforce, this session will cover an array of issues: criteria to distinguish a volunteer from an employee, whether to conduct criminal background checks, what types of policies you should have, whether your hospital is liable for volunteer privacy breaches, and potential issues in your student and intern workforce. Although there are many gray areas, participants will receive practical advice to help prevent problems before they occur.
